Krystal Booth is an artist driven by narrative, exploration
of materials, and sociology. She
is fascinated by stories that reveal humanity with a dose of humor.
Her paintings and drawings are not of a formulaic style, as the concepts
and meanings guide her material and compositional approach of two-dimensional
media. Her resulting body of work is a
culmination of vigorous study and experimentation as she examines the human
desire of connecting with each other and nature.
Her work is shown in national juried shows as well as
galleries in Portland , Oregon , including a 2010 solo exhibition
titled “Fragility”. If one enjoys art blogs
and self-deprecating personalities who write frequently, Krystal does not
disappoint. Her work and commentary can
be found at www.krystalbooth.blogspot.com and on her website at www.wix.com/krystallbooth/art.
Krystal has earned her BFA and BA from Indiana
University through Indiana University
Purdue University ,
Fort Wayne . Miraculously, the clashing Boilermakers and
Hoosiers are able to coexist peacefully on this campus, though Krystal was
extremely proud to have her diplomas granted by IU due to her upbringing of
cheering for the IU basketball team with her family.
She was born in Coldwater , Michigan and grew up in the cozy small town of Angola , Indiana. After living in Orlando ,
Florida and New York City ,
Krystal realized the Pacific Northwest was
taunting her with its temperate climate, expansive terrain, and oceanic coast. In 2010, she made Portland , Oregon
her home and has been inspired by the beauty and people there ever since.
